Wet Weekend Ahead #nlwx

It is going to be a wet weekend across Newfoundland and Labrador.

A weather system has already edged its way into western Labrador and will bring mostly rain to the Big Land. In western Labrador there is the potential for some wet snow today. Rain will change to snow overnight and back to a rain-snow mix on Saturday.

The system will spread rain onto the west coast of Newfoundland overnight. The rain will spread to all of Newfoundland on Saturday night continuing until Sunday.

This is a slow moving system so some areas will receive heavy rain. In Labrador, rainfall amounts will range from 5 to 5 mm. About 15 to 20 mm of rain is expected across Newfoundland except for the southwest coast where up to 75 mm or rain is possible. In these areas there is a risk for localized flooding.

Winds will also be gusty.
