An 18-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in relation to an off-road vehicle crash earlier this month that sent a passenger to hospital with serious injuries.
Shortly before 3:30 a.m. on November 7, 2025, Sheshatshiu RCMP responded to a report of an off-road vehicle crash on Airstrip Road in North West River. Officers found a side-by-side vehicle off the road and an injured passenger nearby, however, the operater of the vehicle was not on scene when police arrived.
On Thursday, November 22, Sheshatshiu RCMP arrested the operator, 18-year-old Aicha Malleck. She now faces charges under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act of:
Dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm
Failure to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm
Operating a motor vehicle without reasonable consideration for other persons
Operation of a vehicle without insurance
Malleck was released from custody and is expected to appear in provincial court on January 8, 2026.
The investigation remains ongoing.
