Unsettled weather expected tonight across NL

Tonight, most of the Island will see snow changing to ice pellets and, in some cases, rain.


Central Newfoundland will receive 2 to 4 mm of rain. For the southwest coast, rainfall amounts of 20 to 30 mm are expected. In the Corner Brook area, expect 2 to 4 cm of snow followed by 10 to 15 mm of rain. 5 cm of snow is expected on the Great Northern Peninsula. Lows minus 4 to plus 6 are expected.


Snow continues across Labrador with ice pellets and freezing rain at times. Snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are expected in Labrador City and 15 cm in Churchill Falls and Happy Valley-Goose Bay. In Nain, 5 to 10 cm is expected. Strong winds will persist, and lows will range from minus 17 to 0.
