Unsettled Monday in store for the province #nlwx

Heavy rain and strong winds are in the forecast for Newfoundland and Labrador tomorrow and Monday night as an area of low pressure gets set to swing through the region.

Rain is expected to move across Newfoundland on Monday afternoon and Monday night. 5 to 10 mm of rain is expected across western and most of central Newfoundland. Parts of the south coast could see 40 to 50 mm of rain including the Avalon Peninsula. Coastal areas could see wind gusts to 100 km/h on Monday night. In the Wreckhouse area, gusts to 140 km/h are possible.

Across most of Labrador, a rain and snow mix is expected.

Marine Atlantic has cancelled all crossings for tonight and is anticipating delays Monday and Monday night.
