Tropical moisture to bring heavy rain to Newfoundland

The remnants of Hurricane Ida is anticipated to merge with a low over the northeastern United States and bring significant rain to portions of Atlantic Canada on Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday night and Friday, heavy rain will move into western Newfoundland. Rainfall amounts of 50 to 100 mm are possible.

Winds over western Newfoundland will gust from 60 to 80 km/h.

The heavy rain may cause localized flooding and hydroplaning will be a risk. Any highway travel should be postponed.
