Thursday morning weather update

Good morning everyone.

We have an area of low pressure to our west that will spread rain across the province. Rain is expected for Labrador and western Newfoundland today with rain spreading eastward affecting the entire province overnight.

Temperatures continue to be above normal for this time of year. The normal high for today in St. John's is 8.7°C, it should be around 7.4°C in Gander, 7.7°C in Deer Lake, and 3.7°C in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

The only alert in effect this morning is a Wreckhouse wind warning for Channel-Port aux Basques and vicinity. Gusts to 100 km/h in the Wreckhouse area are expected this morning and will ease upon shifting to a southerly direction midday.

Taking a look ahead at the weekend, it will be unsettled in Labrador and nice in Newfoundland.
