Thousands without power in Newfoundland due to severe weather

There are thousands of customers without power across Newfoundland this evening as a weather bomb moves across the island.

Winds are gusting in excess of 100 km/h in many areas, causing outages.

In some areas, Newfoundland Power crews are working to restore electricity.
