Thousands without power due to severe weather

There are thousands of customers in the dark this evening as Newfoundland Power is reporting multiple outages.

Outages have been reported in the St. John's Metro area, Trepassey, the northern tip of the Baccalieu Trail, the Burin Peninsula, Terra Nova and Gambo.

There is no estimated restoration time listed and severe weather conditions are listed as the cause.
