Third Person Charged in Harbour Grace Home Invasion

A third person has been arrested and charged in connection with a home invasion and assault in Harbour Grace earlier this month that left one person hospitalized.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said the arrest was made as part of an ongoing investigation into the incident, which occurred on July 3.

Police responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence in Harbour Grace at approximately 4:15 a.m. Three suspects allegedly forced their way into the home, where one occupant was assaulted with a weapon. The victim was taken to hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Investigators have determined that the suspects and victim were known to one another and believe the attack was targeted.

On July 20, 33-year-old Jerry Lee-Welkisch was arrested. He was held in custody and appeared in provincial court on Tuesday.

Lee-Welkisch has been charged with robbery, breaking and entering with intent, and aggravated assault.

Two other men, Christopher Bursey and Steven Clowe, were previously arrested in connection with the investigation. Bursey was released on conditions last week, while Clowe remains in custody and is expected to return to court in August.

Police say the investigation remains active and ongoing. No additional information is being released at this time in order to protect the integrity of the investigation.
