Stormy weekend ahead


A large area of low pressure will impact Newfoundland and Labrador this weekend.


Snow, rain, and strong winds are expected across Newfoundland.


Precipitation is expected to remain as rain across the south coast, Avalon Peninsula, and Clarenville to the Bonavista Peninsula. Elsewhere snow will change to rain on Saturday night.


Snowfall amounts of 20 cm is possible for the Northern Peninsula. Elsewhere snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm is possible.


Rainfall amounts of 15-25 mm, except possibly exceeding 50 mm is possible along the south coast.


Winds will gust between 80 and 110 km/h.


Conditions will improve late on Sunday.


On Saturday night snow will begin across coastal Labrador. Snowfall amounts near 20 cm is expected. Winds will gust between 80 and 110 km/h. Conditions will improve late on Sunday.


This storm has the potential to cause significant travel disruptions.
