Stormy weather expected over the next few days
There is no shortage of weather alerts in effect today for the next weather system that will move through today and continue until Friday for some areas.
For areas under a wind warning winds will gust between 90 and 120 km/h (140 km/h in the Wreckhouse) this afternoon and evening.
Heavy rain is expected for northeastern sections of the island. For the areas under a rainfall warning, 30 to 50 mm is expected tonight until Wednesday night.
Gros Morne will see heavy snow with 15 to 30 cm expected over high elevations along the Viking Trail, with higher amounts possible in the backcountry from this evening until Wednesday evening.
There is a special weather statement in effect for parts of central and eastern Newfoundland. Rainfall amounts of 30 to 60 mm is anticipated with the highest amounts likely occurring in the vicinities of Terra Nova National Park and the Bonavista Peninsula. Winds will gust to 80 km/h. The rain and strong winds will begin this evening and last until Thursday morning.
