Stormy weather continues today and tomorrow



Severe weather is continuing across Newfoundland today.


Newfoundland

For the Avalon and Burin Peninsulas, rain will be the order of the day with 60 to 90 mm expected between now and Monday morning. Flooding is possible. Rainfall amounts of 40 to 60 mm is expected for the Burgeo and Connaigre area.


Freezing rain is expected to start over the course of the day along the south coast. 15 to 30 mm of freezing rain is possible.


On Monday freezing rain is expected across central and western Newfoundland and the Great Northern Peninsula with 5 to 10 mm possible.


Winds are an issue as well. Overnight tonight to near midnight Monday night winds in the Wreckhouse area are expected to gust to 120 km/h. Gusts between 100 and 120 km/h are expected from Monday morning until after midnight Monday night.


Labrador

Across southeastern Labrador from Red Bay to Rigolet and west to Upper Lake Melville, a long-duration freezing rain event is expected from Monday evening through Tuesday.


Travel Impacts

Marine Atlantic will be departing North Sydney at 10:45 am this morning and will be departing Port aux Basques at 10:30 am.


Crossings for this evening and all crossings on Monday could be cancelled.

  • St. Anthony Airport to St. Anthony

  • St. Anthony to Goose Cove East

  • Cow Head to Daniel's Harbour

  • Plum Point to Flower's Cove

  • Flower's Cove to St. Anthony Airport

  • Great Brehat Road to St. Anthony Bight

  • Intersection Route 430 to St. Barbe

  • Great Brehat Road to St. Carol's

  • Intersection Route 430 to Great Brehat

  • St. Anthony Airport to Roddickton

  • Roddickton to Plum Point

  • Roddickton to Englee

  • Intersection Route 430 to Cook's Harbour

  • Intersection Route 430 to L'anse aux Meadows

  • Intersection Route 430 to Cape Onion
