Stormy weather causes power outages in eastern Newfoundland

Rain is continuing across most of eastern Newfoundland this morning. Rain will continue throughout the day and Monday as Post-Tropical Storm Earl stalls off the southeastern coast of the Island.


Winds have dropped below warning criteria but will continue to be strong this morning with gusts to 90 km/h possible.


Rainfall forecast:

  • St. John's 40 to 70 mm

  • Carbonear 30 to 50 mm

  • Trepassey 25 to 45 mm

  • Placentia 15 to 20 mm


The MV Flanders, MV Marine Eagle, MV Terra Nova, and MV Grace Sparkes are not running due to severe weather.
