Stormy Sunday in Newfoundland and Labrador #nlwx

The latest weather system is moving through Newfoundland and Labrador today.

Rain will spread across Newfoundland today as the centre of the low track across southeastern Labrador. When the rain ends in western Newfoundland, some snow is possible over higher elevations.

15 to 25 mm of rain is expected across western Newfoundland. 10 to 15 mm is expected along the south coast, parts of central, and the Avalon, for areas north of Gander, 5 to 10 mm is expected.

As the low pushes through, an associated cold front will drop temperatures and there will be the risk of some non-severe thunderstorms.

There will also be strong winds across eastern and central Newfoundland with gusts to 100 km/h possible.

In Labrador, most of the precipitation will be in the form of snow. In the Red Bay to L'Anse-au-Clair area, 15 to 25 mm of rain is expected. In the Cartwright to Black Tickle and Eagle River area, 15 to 20 centimetres of snow is expected.

There are wind and rainfall warnings in effect.
