Stormy start to the weekend

This afternoon snow will spread across western and central Newfoundland. Freezing rain is expected in a line from about Connaigre to the Bonavista Peninsula.

Rain is expected for the Burin and Avalon at first but freezing rain is expected on Saturday morning and eventually snow by Saturday evening.

Across southwestern, central, and northeastern Newfoundland, snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected. For the Avalon and Burin Peninsulas snow, ice pellets, freezing rain, and rain is expected. Amounts will vary depending on the area.
