Stormy Monday in Store for the Province #nlwx



It will be unsettled across Newfoundland and Labrador on Monday as a weather system moves through. We are looking at strong winds for most areas. In Newfoundland snow will change to rain as the day progresses. Snow is expected in Labrador.


Snowfall amounts across Newfoundland will be quite minimal with at most 5 cm expected.


Rain will be the bigger story with 15 to 30 mm expected across the south coast, 5 to 10 mm expected for St. John's, the northern Avalon, and parts of the west coast and 2 to 5 mm expected in central Newfoundland.


Snowfall amounts across Labrador will range from 5 to 15 cm.


Very strong wind gusts are expected across Newfoundland on Monday. Gusts to 120 km/h are possible along coastal sections of the Avalon, 110 km/h in central and on the west coast we could see some gusts to 140 km/h. Power outages are a possibility.


The effects of this storm will linger into Tuesday.


Marine Atlantic anticipates that crossings on Monday and Tuesday will be impacted.
