Storm pounds the Avalon Peninsula

Good morning, well it's day two of a winter storm that is impacting the eastern tier of the Island.

There are several closures due to the storm and the Avalon will see snow for the remainder of the day.

The low in question has moved out to sea but on the backside of the low snow continues. St. John's will see another 5 to 15 cm, 2 to 5 cm is expected in Placentia, 5 to 10 cm in Clarenville, and about 2 cm in the Bonavista area.

Winds on the Avalon will continue to be gusty all day with gusts to 90 km/h possible.

There are still winter storm warnings in effect for the Avalon Peninsula North, Avalon Peninsula Southeast, Avalon Peninsula Southwest, Bonavista Peninsula, Clarenville and vicinity, St. John's and vicinity, and Terra Nova.

Travel is not recommended on the Avalon Peninsula this morning and Highway-10 (Southern Shore Highway) from Chance Cove Park to Peter's River is closed.
