Storm impacting Newfoundland

It will be a very stormy day across the island portion of the province with snow, rain, freezing rain, and strong winds expected.
Eastern and southern sections will see rain today and tonight. Rainfall amounts between 50 and 100 mm are expected in southern areas. The northern Avalon will receive about 30 to 40 mm. Rain will continue tonight. Winds will increase tonight.
Parts of central and northeastern Newfoundland will see snow with the potential for ice pellets. Snow and ice pellets amounts of 15 to 25 cm could fall. The transition to ice pellets could have a significant impact on rainfall amounts. Snow will begin around noon and continue until early Sunday morning.
Today and tonight, snow and freezing rain is expected across parts of the west coast, particularly the Corner Brook area. Snow is expected with about 5 cm likely. Near the coast rainfall amounts of 10 to 15 mm is expected. Freezing rain will fall inland and over higher terrain. There is the potential for power outages.
Stormy conditions will continue tonight. There will be some improvement on Sunday.
