Weather conditions will begin to deteriorate across the west coast of the province tonight as a powerful storm prepares to push through.

Across central and eastern Newfoundland, snow is expected to begin in the early morning hours on Wednesday, likely around dawn.

The best chance for steady snow tomorrow is from Gander to Grand Falls-Windsor to Clarenville.

There is an uncertainty with regard to the accumulation in St. John’s and the Avalon Peninsula. Snow is expected in the morning on Wednesday, but milder temperatures and a rain/snow mix later could limit build-up.

Snowfall forecast:

  • St. John’s: 10–15 cm (in combination with possible ice pellets/rain later)

  • Clarenville: 30–40 cm

  • Gander: 10–15 cm

  • Grand Falls‑Windsor 10–15 cm

  • Corner Brook: 5 cm

Expect hazardous driving conditions, especially in heavier snow.
