Snow squalls causing travel problems



Snow squalls are causing travel problems across the province today.


There are two separate advisories from the RCMP warning against travel. Road conditions are hazardous on the TCH from Deer Lake to Corner Brook and surrounding areas of the North and South Shore, with high winds, whiteouts and zero visibility. RCMP is also warning motorists of extremely icy conditions and snow squalls on the Veteran’s Memorial Highway.


Travel is not recommended on the following routes:

  • Pasadena to Steady Brook

  • Tompkins to Cape Ray

  • Cape Ray to Port aux Basques

  • Corner Brook to Gallants

  • Woody Point to Trout River

  • Cox's Cove to Trans-Canada Highway

  • Lark Harbour to Corner Brook

  • Intersection Route 450 to Trans-Canada Highway

  • Mainland to Cape St. George

  • Port aux Basques to Rose Blanche

  • Trans-Canada Highway to Buchan's Resource Road

  • Buchan's Resource Road to Burgeo

  • Cartwright Junction to Cartwright


The following roads are closed:

  • Kenamu River to Crooke's Lake Depot

  • Crooke's Lake Depot to Cartwright Junction

  • Happy Valley-Goose Bay to Kenamu River
