A mix of snow, rain and gusty winds is expected across much of Newfoundland on Today as a weather system moves through the province.

St. John’s and the Avalon Peninsula will see snow or ice pellets changing to rain this morning before tapering off this afternoon. Temperatures are expected to rise to about 6 degrees in the capital region, with southeast winds gusting up to about 60 km/h, shifting southwest later in the day.

Elsewhere across central and eastern Newfoundland, snow will change to rain during the day, bringing a few centimetres of snow followed by light rainfall amounts.

Parts of northern Newfoundland, including Green Bay–White Bay and the Northern Peninsula, are expected to see heavier snow and blowing snow, with snowfall amounts possibly reaching 10 to 15 centimetres in some areas.

Western and southwestern regions are also forecast to see snow changing to rain or mixed precipitation, along with strong winds and temperatures hovering around the freezing mark to a few degrees above.

In Labrador, 2 cm of snow is expected for both Churchill Falls and Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
