Snow, rain, and freezing rain expected across Newfoundland


A low will impact Newfoundland tonight and Monday.


Overnight and Monday the low will move into Newfoundland and will bring snow, rain, and freezing rain.


Freezing rain is expected to begin this evening for the northern Avalon Peninsula and from Clarenville to Bonavista North. The freezing rain will continue until Monday morning when showers or flurries and strong winds are expected.


For the remainder of central Newfoundland and the eastern half of the Northern Peninsula, snowfall and strong winds are expected this evening through Monday night.


Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm is expected combined with winds gusting between 70 and 90 km/h.


For the south coast rainfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm are expected tonight. In the Corner Brook area, rainfall of 2 mm and snowfall of 5 cm are expected overnight.


On Monday night eastern Newfoundland will change to snow as the low departs with about 5 cm expected.


Marine Atlantic is anticipating impacts on departures tonight and Monday morning.
