Firefighters were called to a portion of Empire Avenue between Empire Place and Dammerills Lane in St. John’s just before 1:05 a.m. on Friday morning.

When crews arrived, they were faced with smoke and flames coming from the shed. Firefighters quickly laid an attack line and extinguished the fire before it could spread any further into the nearby home.

Empire Avenue between Empire Place and Dammerills Lane was closed as emergency personnel attended the scene.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire. It is unclear at this time if the home did sustain any fire damage or what caused the fire.
