Severe weather causing damage and travel problems across the Island #nlwx
Snow and blowing snow is continuing across the west coast. Most areas of central and eastern are seeing moderate to heavy rain. The latest alerts can be found here.
Thousands of customers are without power this morning on the Avalon, through Clarenville, areas north of Gander and as far west as Norris Arm North due to severe weather conditions.
On the Avalon Peninsula, the wind is causing damage. The RNC reported that there is a significant amount of broken glass on Harbour Drive in St. John’s. There are reports of damage to buildings.
Marine Atlantic has cancelled all crossings for today and anticipates crossings on Monday could be cancelled. Most flights in and out of St. John's and Deer Lake today are delayed or cancelled.
Across the southern portion of the Island from Port aux Basques to the Burin Peninsula, travel is not recommended.
