Several road closures in St. John's due to flooding

The snowpack in St. John's took quite a beating overnight.

Several roads in St. John's are closed due to flooding. Heavy rain started last night and continued through this morning.

The heavy rain and warm temperatures caused significant snowmelt resulting in extensive flooding not only in St. John's but across the Avalon Peninsula.

The following roads are closed in St. John's:

• Southside Road heading East toward Blackhead Road and north of Blackhead Road

• Power’s Road

• Syme’s Bridge

• Waterford Bridge Road: Waterford Hospital to Road de Luxe

• Portugal Cove Road from Winter Avenue to Rennie's Mill Road (local traffic only)

• 30 Marine Drive - Outer Cove Road
