Several power outages in eastern Newfoundland as wind storm continues

As of this morning, there are 1,892 customers in the St. John's and Bay de Verde area without power as the region gets hammered by strong winds.

No estimated restoration time has been given.

This morning winds continue to gust between 80 and 100 km/h. Strong winds are expected to continue this morning. Even though winds will weaken over the day, gusty conditions are expected to continue tonight and tomorrow.

Along the Avalon Peninsula North and St. John's, large waves and pounding surf will produce higher than normal water levels with coastal flooding likely in some areas. Waves could be up to 11 metres today. Avoid the water today it will be very dangerous.
