Roadwork uncovers mystery in Carbonear

As Carbonear's Downtown Revitalization Project gets underway, work crews have made an unusual discovery.

On Thursday morning structures were uncovered that have raised a lot of questions, most notably, what are they?

The Carbonear Heritage Society says it can be part of an old sewage system that was later converted from an older entrance into a sub-terrain room. The missing room was reported to have a very strong rock roof and wooden floor.

Nothing has been proven yet. Yesterday Archaeologist Jamie Brake visited the site.
