RNC investigating stunting complaint at St. John’s car rally

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says one vehicle has been impounded and officers are looking to identify another driver following reports of dangerous driving at a car gathering in St. John’s.

Police responded to a traffic complaint on Kenmount Road around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The RNC says a member of the public reported seeing an antique red Corvette doing donuts on the roadway and displaying unsafe driving behaviour during what appeared to be a local vehicle gathering.

An officer was unable to locate the Corvette but remained nearby in an effort to deter further dangerous driving.

Police say the officer later observed another vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Kenmount Road before temporarily losing control.

The vehicle was stopped, and the 32-year-old male driver was issued a Summary Offence Ticket for performing stunts. The vehicle was also impounded.

RNC Traffic Services are now asking for the public's help identifying the driver and vehicle involved in the original complaint.
