RNC arrest suspect following armed robbery in Corner Brook

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery at a business in Corner Brook early Thursday morning.


Police say officers responded around 12:30 a.m. to a report of an armed robbery on West Street. The suspect allegedly presented a weapon, demanded cash from an employee and fled the scene. No injuries were reported.


About an hour later, officers conducting routine patrols arrested Miranda Spencer, 31, in connection with the incident.


Spencer has been charged with armed robbery, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. She was held in custody to appear in court.


The RNC is asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity related to the incident to contact police at 709-637-4100. Crimes in progress should be reported by calling 911. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online.
