RNC arrest man unlawfully at large in Corner Brook


The RNC located a man unlawfully at large in Corner Brook overnight, but when officers attempted an arrest, he did not go quietly.


Christopher Payne, who had been unlawfully at large since September 16, was spotted walking on Humber Road in Corner Brook at 1:30 a.m.


Officers attempted to approach Payne and he fled on foot. Police Dog Services were called out to assist and Payne was located and arrested at 2:30 a.m. after he was found hiding in the back of a parked vehicle.


During his arrest, Payne allegedly smashed the window out of a police car and made

threats to kill police officers and the police dog.


Payne was charged with Breach of Probation Order, Property damage, Uttering threats, and Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
