Residents displaced following house fire in Mount Pearl, Monday evening

A home in Mount Pearl sustained damage from a fire on Monday evening, displacing residents.


Emergency crews were dispatched to the residence oon Farrell Drive near Holden Street shotly after 7:30 p.m. after reports of smoke and flames emanating from the property. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered smoke billwing from the front of the home. Crews quickly deployed attack lines and established a supply line to combat the blaze in the structure.


Firefighters battled the fire for a few minutes, followed by another hour and a half to ensure all hotspots were extinguished. All residents were reported to have escaped the home.


Farrell Drive between Holden Street and Galway Crescent was closed for about two hours, with a detour in place. The road reopened around 9:45 p.m.


The cause of the fire is currently under investigation...
