Registration is now open for the fall 2026 Becoming an Outdoors Woman workshop, set for Sept. 25 to 27 at Camp Emmanuel in Lewisporte.

The three-day workshop is open to people 18 and older who identify as female and is designed to provide hands-on outdoor skills in a safe and inclusive environment.

Participants will choose four half-day courses from 28 options covering activities such as hunting, fishing, camping and hiking.

Courses include shotgun, rifle and archery, as well as fly fishing, fly tying and towing a boat with a trailer. Other sessions will focus on outdoor cooking, map and compass skills, navigation and orienteering.

The program also provides participants with information about the management and conservation of Newfoundland and Labrador's natural, historical and cultural resources.

Registration costs $295 and includes accommodations, meals and course materials.

Those interested in registering can email salmoniernaturepark@gov.nl.ca or call 709-229-7888.

The workshop is sponsored by the Department of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands, Friends of Salmonier Nature Park, Wildlife Habitat Canada, provincial organizations, volunteers and local businesses.
