An area of low pressure will impact Newfoundland on Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Across western and southern Newfoundland heavy rain, freezing rain, and strong winds are expected on Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Along the south coast, 40 to 70 mm of rain is expected. For the west coast, 15 to 30 mm of rain is possible.

There is a potential for an extended period of freezing rain mainly in the west and over the Great Northern Peninsula. Freezing rain amounts of 15 to 20 mm is possible.

Winds will also be strong with gusts between 80 and 120 km/h expected. In the Wreckhouse area gusts to 140 km/h are possible.

Localized flooding due to heavy rain and snowmelt is possible. In areas of strong winds and freezing rain, power outages are possible.
