Motorists and homeowners in Newfoundland and Labrador are paying more for fuel after the latest weekly price adjustment by the Public Utilities Board.

Gasoline prices increased by up to 2.6 cents per litre, while diesel saw a larger jump. Diesel prices on the Island rose by up to 9.2 cents per litre, while diesel in western Labrador increased by 10.0 cents per litre.

Home heating fuels also became more expensive. Furnace oil on the Island increased by 7.95 cents per litre, while stove oil in western Labrador rose by 8.98 cents per litre.

Propane heating fuel increased by 0.3 cents per litre.

The Public Utilities Board said the adjustments are based on the most recently available average market data as of the close of business on July 29 and do not reflect more recent market activity.

The board's next scheduled fuel price adjustment is set for Saturday, Aug. 1.

Correction: A previous version of this story indicated that fuel prices would be updated on a weekly basis; this was an error. Prices will continue to be updated daily.
