The provincial government has cancelled a previously issued request for proposals for a highway twinning project and will move forward using a traditional procurement approach, a decision it says will create more opportunities for local contractors.
According to government officials, contracts for brush clearing work associated with the project were previously tendered, awarded and completed, and all required clearing has now been finished. The completed work will remain in place and will support future phases of construction.
The request for proposals, issued in August under a public-private partnership (P3) model, was cancelled in favour of a traditional procurement process.
Government says the change aligns with its commitment to strengthening the provincial economy and maximizing benefits for local businesses.
Under the revised approach, the project will be divided into multiple contracts.
