Province seeks public input on population growth strategy

The Newfoundland and Labrador government is seeking public input as it develops a strategy aimed at supporting population growth across the province.

The Department of Jobs, Growth and Rural Development says population growth is important to addressing labour market needs, supporting economic development, strengthening communities and long-term prosperity.

The strategy will focus on four areas:

• Growing the workforce

• Growing families

• Growing regions

• Growing in-migration

Residents can provide feedback through EngageNL or by email. The consultation is open until October 11, 2026.

Additional questionnaires will be sent to local and municipal governments, Indigenous governments and organizations, and employers to gather perspectives from across the province.

The department says feedback will help identify opportunities, challenges and priorities related to population growth in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The government is also developing related strategies focused on rural revitalization and population growth.
