Province Invites Families to Honour Victims of Gender-Based Violence with Memorial Banners

The provincial government is inviting families to honour loved ones lost to gender-based violence by participating in this year's Purple Ribbon Campaign through the creation of memorial banners.

The Office of Women and Gender Equality said the banners will be displayed during the annual Purple Ribbon Campaign and flag-raising ceremony on Nov. 25, 2026, recognizing women and girls whose lives were tragically lost due to gender-based violence.

According to the province, the banners pay tribute to mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, friends and other community members, while serving as a lasting reminder of the lives they lived and the loved ones they leave behind.

Families wishing to commemorate a loved one can request a memorial banner at no cost by contacting the Office of Women and Gender Equality.

Applications for memorial banners will be accepted until Sept. 30, 2026.
