The provincial government has awarded a $9.8 million contract to build a 20-unit apartment complex in Corner Brook.
Housing Minister Joedy Wall announced the contract last week, saying the three-storey building will be constructed on Crestview Avenue and owned and operated by the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation.
The project will include 10 one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom apartments, which the province says are in the highest demand. Four of the two-bedroom units will be fully accessible, while all 20 apartments will include universal design features to support aging in place. The building will also be equipped with an elevator.
Tenants will be selected through NLHC’s regular application process once construction is complete.
Pasadena-based Streamline Management was awarded the contract. The project will follow a design-build model, meaning the contractor will be responsible for both the design and construction, while NLHC will set key requirements such as accessibility standards.
Construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2026, with completion anticipated by the end of 2027.
“This apartment building will create affordable and suitable homes for 20 NLHC families, providing more affordable options on the west coast,” Wall said in a statement.
