The provincial government announced a series of investments Wednesday aimed at improving access to health care and reducing travel barriers for residents of Labrador.
Among the changes is an expansion of the Labrador Air Access Program, which the government said will help make travel more affordable for people who rely on air transportation to access services and maintain connections across the region.
The enhanced program will provide subsidies for up to four return flights through March 31, 2027, and will include support for inter-regional travel within Labrador. The government also announced several administrative improvements, including reducing application and booking processing times from 28 days to seven days, shortening the booking window from two weeks to 24 hours, and cutting claim processing times from two weeks to one week.
The province also announced plans to redevelop the Paddon Home into a long-term care facility and establish a new transitional care unit with eight beds at the Labrador Health Centre.
