The Newfoundland and Labrador government is providing an additional $400,000 to the Lionel Kelland Hospice in Grand Falls-Windsor through Budget 2026.

The funding brings the province's total contribution to the hospice to $2.7 million for 2026-27, up from its regular annual funding of $2.3 million.

The announcement was made by Premier Tony Wakeham, Social Supports and Well-Being Minister Chris Tibbs and Forestry, Agriculture and Lands Minister Pleaman Forsey.

The Lionel Kelland Hospice provides 24-hour end-of-life care for patients who no longer require hospital services but cannot be supported at home.

The hospice also provides bereavement programs, counselling, education and spaces for families.

The province says the additional funding will support the continued delivery of hospice services and help provide community-based care outside of hospitals.
