Portion of the TCH washed out #nlwx



The RCMP is warning that the Trans-Canada Highway west of Springdale has been significantly damaged due to days of heavy rain.


The highway is completely impassable at this time.


It remains unclear how long the repair will take.


Route 391 has been reopened to motorists with one section near Devil’s Drop that is reduced to one-lane of travel. The road was closed on Monday from King's Point to Harry's Harbour after the road broke up and washed out.


On parts of the Avalon, some residents have reported water in basements and localized areas of flooding. The ground is saturated and therefore cannot hold any more rain.


Most of Newfoundland has seen rain and fog for over a week now with some areas seeing over 100 mm of rain.
