Police investigating attack on Woman in Bowring Park

The RNC's Major Crime Unit is investigating a reported assault that occurred on Sunday, July 20th, in Bowring Park, St. John’s.
According to police, the incident took place around 11:30 a.m. near the soccer field in the park. A woman sustained physical injuries after being attacked by a man unknown to her.
The suspect is described as being at least 6 feet tall, skinny, and weighing approximately 160 pounds. He was shirtless at the time, wearing jean shorts, with a black shirt tucked into the back of his shorts, and black work boots. He was last seen fleeing into a wooded area near the scene.
The RNC is requesting the public’s assistance and is particularly interested in any video footage captured between 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on July 20th in the Bowring Park area.
An increased police presence remains in the area as the investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact the RNC at 709-729-8000. In the case of an emergency or crime in progress, residents should call 911.
