On Sunday morning an RNC officer on patrol in Kelligrews observed a male known by police to be wanted under several warrants.

As officers pulled in the yard the 39-year-old male fled inside the residence.

Additional officers attended and secured the residence and started the process of obtaining a warrant.

While on scene officers heard banging and a person screaming for help inside. Officers forced their way inside and located a female resident being attacked and bitten by a large pit-bull dog, where she received serious injuries to her arm and was attended to by paramedics.

The dog then attacked and bit an officer, who had to deploy a taser to stop the dog, which was then locked in another room. The officer also had to get treated for dog bites.

The accused eventually exited a washroom where officers placed him under arrest.

The accused was arrested and taken to the city lock up and held for court and the dog was eventually sedated and turned over to CBS humane services.
