Numerous alerts in effect for incoming storm

Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued several weather alerts ahead of the next storm headed our way. Here is a list of the alerts:


Yellow level warning - winter storm - issued for:

  • Bay St. George

  • Buchans and the interior

  • Channel-Port aux Basques and vicinity

  • Corner Brook and vicinity

  • Deer Lake - Humber Valley

  • Grand Falls-Windsor and vicinity

  • Green Bay - White Bay

  • Gros Morne

  • Northern Peninsula East

  • Parson's Pond - Hawke's Bay

  • Port Saunders and the Straits

  • Red Bay to L'Anse-au-Clair

  • Cartwright to Black Tickle

  • Eagle River

  • Norman Bay to Lodge Bay

Bay St. George, Corner Brook and vicinity, the Great Northern Peninsula: 20 to 40 cm.

Channel-Port aux Basques and vicinity, Buchans and the interior, Grand Falls-Windsor and vicinity: Total snowfall: 15 to 20 cm. Total rainfall: 5 to 15 mm. Total freezing rain: 5 to 10 mm.

Green Bay - White Bay and Deer Lake - Humber Valley: Total snowfall: 15 to 20 cm, with up to 40 cm possible over parts of the Baie Verte Peninsula.

Norman Bay to Lodge Bay and Red Bay to L'Anse-au-Clair: Total snowfall: 20 to 40 cm.

Cartwright to Black Tickle and the Trans-Labrador Highway from Crooks Lake to Cartwright Junction: Potential snowfall: 15 to 25 cm.


Yellow level warning - rainfall - issued for:

  • Burgeo - Ramea

  • Connaigre

  • Burin Peninsula


Total rainfall:

-25 to 35 mm for Connaigre and Burin Peninsulas. Locally higher amounts are possible.

-15 to 25 mm for Burgeo to Ramea.

Time span: overnight tonight until midday Monday.


Orange level warning - wind - issued for:

  • Avalon Peninsula North

  • Avalon Peninsula Southeast

  • St. John's and vicinity

  • Avalon Peninsula Southwest

  • Bay of Exploits

  • Bonavista North

  • Bonavista Peninsula

  • Clarenville and vicinity

  • Gander and vicinity

  • Terra Nova

  • Burin Peninsula

  • Connaigre

  • Burgeo - Ramea


Very strong winds are expected.

Maximum wind gusts: west to southwesterly 100 km/h except 130 km/h along the coast.

Time span: Monday afternoon and Monday night.
