Nice across the province today, storm moves in tonight

It will be pleasant but cold today across Newfoundland and Labrador. A mix of sun and cloud is expected. Temperatures will reach from minus 9 to zero on the Island and from minus 17 to minus 10 across Labrador.


The weather today is not the big story; the stormy weather arrives tonight with snow, rain, and strong winds expected for the Island portion of the province.

Avalon Peninsula: Snow begins overnight. On Wednesday, snow will change to rain with ice pellets in the afternoon. About 10 to 15 cm of snow is expected, and rainfall amounts of 10 to 20 mm.


Central: Snow and blowing snow is expected. 10 to 15 cm is expected.


South Coast: Snow will start overnight, and coastal areas will see rain. On Wednesday, areas away from the coast will see 10 to 15 cm of snow and blowing snow.


West Coast: Along the west coast, flurries are expected tonight with about 2 to 4 cm expected and tomorrow, about 5 cm of snow is expected.
