Newfoundland Storm Totals

An area of low pressure emerged off the U.S. Eastern Seaboard south of Long Island on Wednesday morning and rapidly intensified as it tracked northeastward to pass over the Grand Banks on Thursday night.

The system brought snow and strong winds to eastern Newfoundland from about midday on Thursday through until Friday morning.

As a result of the storm, schools were either closed for the morning of all day. Several businesses had a delayed opening. Provincial Government offices in the St. John’s metro region had a delayed opening with offices opening at 11:00 a.m.
