The sixth annual My New St. John’s event takes place October 22 at the St. John’s Community Market, offering newcomers an opportunity to connect with local organizations and learn about programs and services available in the city.

Hosted by the St. John’s Local Immigration Partnership, the free event runs from noon to 6:30 p.m. at 245 Freshwater Road.

Attendees can meet community leaders, discover local resources, learn about settlement services and connect with others in the community.

Free on-site childminding is available from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Registration is required by October 21, with a maximum of 15 children per timeslot.

Dedicated buses will also operate between Memorial University and the College of the North Atlantic and the event. Pickups are scheduled for 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., with the final return bus departing at 6:30 p.m.

The MUN pickup location is the Internationalization Office, while the CNA pickup is at the main entrance.

The St. John’s Community Market is accessible by Metrobus and GoBus. Information about building accessibility and parking is available through the market’s website.

Organizers say the event aims to help newcomers feel welcome, build connections and become more involved in their community.
