Mix of winter weather to impact eastern Newfoundland


This afternoon a couple of centimetres of snow are expected over the Avalon and Burin Peninsula. Snow will transition to rain or freezing rain.


Some areas could see 8 to 10 hours of freezing rain and rainfall amounts of 10 to 20 mm is expected over the areas that see rain as opposed to freezing rain.


The precipitation will end on Friday morning.


A combination of snow, ice pellets, and freezing rain is expected across the Bonavista peninsula and Clarenville. From this evening until early Friday morning snow and ice pellet amounts of 5 to 15 cm is expected and freezing rain could possibly exceed four hours.
