Man facing series of drug charges in Port aux Basques


The RCMP-RNC Joint Forces Operation West and RCMP in Channel-Port aux Basques Detachment searched a home in the community on Friday.


39-year-old Richard Ingram was found in possession of firearms, ammunition, drugs and cash. He was arrested and now faces a number of charges.


Officers located and seized a handgun, two shotguns, ammunition, a taser, $9000.00 in cash, cocaine, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and other evidence consistent with drug trafficking.


Ingram was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of a controlled substance (cocaine and methamphetamine, seven counts of careless use/storage of a firearm/ammunition, four counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, four counts of possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, and possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition.


The accused was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.


The investigation is continuing with other charges possible.
