The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has charged a 29-year-old man following a weapons offence in downtown St. John’s late Monday night.
Around 10:30 p.m. on September 15, officers responded after a complainant reported a man pointing a gun while walking along a city street.
Police quickly located the suspect and recovered an imitation firearm in his possession. Investigators say the man, who is known to police, is currently under a firearms prohibition.
He was arrested and is facing several charges, including assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, breaching a firearms prohibition, pointing a firearm, and careless use of a firearm. He was held to appear in court Tuesday morning.
A 34-year-old woman who was with the man was also arrested. Police say she was wanted on an outstanding warrant and was likewise held for court.
